The phrase still apllies to 2 to 4 hour treks. Quite unbelieavalble yet still works. Another function of a sweeper is aid-giver. A sweeper must always carry a first aid kit in cases of emergencies. A companion that faints along the way should be woke up using inhalants so as not to slow down the trek pacing or possibly cut the whole line and leave trekkers separated.
